Blast Academy

Ages 5–8 — A fun, challenging introduction to the beautiful game.

Be Blast. Be Best.

Blast Academy is our introductory program for boys and girls ages 5–8 across the Twin Cities. Unlike typical recreational programs, Jr. Blast delivers structured, skill-focused sessions in a fun and energetic environment.

Like everything at the Blast, we go the extra mile. Both players and parents come away impressed by the transformation they see — in skill development, confidence, and love for the game.

Blast Academy runs at two locations: Blast North and Blast South, making it easy for families across the metro to participate.

Building the Foundation

Every Blast Academy session focuses on four core technical areas, followed by games to apply new skills.

Passing

You cannot move a ball without great passing skills. Players refine techniques, increase consistency, and laser-focus their accuracy.

Receiving

You cannot continue a passing string without ball control. Players learn to receive with multiple surfaces — feet and thighs — keeping the ball close.

Dribbling

When opportunities arise, players must take the space ahead. We build speed through space while maintaining a close connection with the ball.

Shooting

Great shooting isn't about power — it's recognizing opportunity and shooting quickly with accuracy. We train all surfaces, right and left feet.

How a Blast Academy Session Works

Each session follows a progressive structure designed to maximize ball touches and skill development:

Technical Warm-Up (15 min)

Individual and partner ball work. Every player has a ball. Focus on the session's core skill theme.

Skill Stations (20 min)

Small group drills and challenge stations that build on the warm-up skill. Players rotate through stations, getting repetitions in game-like scenarios.

Small-Sided Games (15 min)

3v3 and 4v4 games where players apply what they've learned. Small-sided formats guarantee more touches, more decisions, and more fun.
